1. Price Per Sheet Transparency, Not Just Per Roll

The first thing to check: does the supplier tell you the sheet count per roll, clearly, before you buy?

Why it matters: "price per roll" is meaningless when roll sizes vary from 160 to 360 sheets. A supplier who publishes sheet counts is inviting you to do the maths on cost per 100 sheets — which is the only number that can't be gamed. A supplier who buries it, or sells "equivalent rolls," is hoping you won't.

Checklist item: Sheet count on every product. If you have to email and ask, that's a yellow flag.

2. Honest Delivery Costs and Coverage

Delivery is where "great" prices go to die. Before ordering:

• Is delivery cost stated up front, or does it appear at checkout like a bad surprise?

• Are there free-delivery thresholds that make bulk orders even better value?

Checklist item: Total landed cost — product + delivery — is what you compare. Nothing else.

3. Australian Made Where Possible

This one's partly about quality, partly about supporting local manufacturing jobs — and there's also a supply-chain angle: Australian made stock doesn't sit on a container ship for six weeks. Ask where the paper is made, and be satisfied with an honest answer like "Australian made where possible" rather than a vague one.

Checklist item: The supplier can tell you where their stock comes from without shuffling their feet.

4. Product Range That Covers the Whole Washroom

A good toilet paper supplier is really a washroom supplier. Can you get 2-ply and 3-ply, bulk pack sizes, paper towels, and cleaning supplies from the same order? Consolidating saves on delivery, invoicing, and the admin time of juggling four suppliers — a real cost that never shows up on a price tag.

Checklist item: One order, one delivery, everything the washroom needs.

5. Real Customer Service From Real People

This is the one that quietly separates the good from the "cheap but terrible." Test it before you need it:

• Can you actually reach a human when something goes wrong?

• Is there a phone number and an address on the site?
